Anglian Water, leak warning letter?
Discussion
My 95 year old father has had 3 of these over the last couple of years, the only obvious leak was a minor drip from the stop tap. He has no meter and yet the company's app (on my phone)shows an average daily usage of 238 litres, 33% above the Oct figure and even usage of around 8 to 10 litres in the early hours.
I don't understand how they be this accurate when there is no internal meter, he pays a fixed monthly DD of just £6. There is no obvious sign of water damage anywhere on the property in or out, he lives lone and I'm 120 miles away. Anyone got any thoughts on what's going on here?

If you can see the usage on the app then a smart meter has been fitted.
When mine was done the fitting of the meter distrubed the joint next to the meter and was loosing 20 litres a day.
AWA contacted me saying that i had a leak on my property and was my problem. AWA sent out a team to investigate, twice but they just looked down the meter chamber and walked away sayinny my problem.
House insurance sent out a man with a test meter which he fitted and found no leak, but the action of him fitting the test meter stopped the leak. On removal of the test meter the leak returned.
It needed an email to AWA CEO to get them to dig the path up and sure enough the leak was from the "meter tail pipe" to my supply pipe.
The joint was leaking.
On my estate where all have been fitted with smart meters, 20% have had the path dug up for the same problem.
It was a pain in the rear to sort and took 3 months. All bills were cancelled for this period.
Good luck

It might be worth asking the water company how they arrive at the usage figures. It sounds like they have your father’s property mixed up with someone else’s.
With the water utilities they might be able to sort it out, unlike gas where nobody is responsible for these sorts of error errors.

We have an internal meter that can remotely read - but remotely means someone standing outside the house with a reader.
Yet, after about 10yr of having it, we’ve suddenly started getting monthly usage statements. I suppose it’s possible, but it seems unlikely, that they’re sending someone around every month. It’s been on my mind to ask them (United Utilities) how they’re doing it.
How is the bill only £6/mth? My Mum’s house couldn’t be metered and she was paying a couple of hundred per year, and that’s about 10yrs ago.

His annual bill for July 2024/25 will be £192, which would indicate to me that there is no meter, I also cannot find any reference to the waste water/sewage element of the bill as shown on the App. However quick a maths calculation shows the £6 a month doesn't cover the £192(£142 in credit for this billing period).
