Patio heater?
I have a small IR tube heater, like a halogen lamp that gives out heat and a bit of red light.

Not battery powered.

Is the priority light or heat? And does it have to be all in one?

Infrared heater should work well, but not great for lighting so I'd split the job and have LED lighting too.

I still have my halogen work lights kicking about which definitely make great space heaters, not sure they work so well heating outdoors & they burn a lot of power just for lighting.

it was halogen light but can only find LED lights screwfix etc so not sure if will put out enough heat as prefer to be warm if doing diy in garage/outside

Have a look around this site, you might find something, they also sometimes have returns etc which can be heavily discounted.

Isn't it easier to just wear clothes when outside this time of year?

For a workshop or garage then IR panels are pretty good if you're typically working in the same place.

I've used my quartz tube IR heater for things like GRP work on boats outside.
I can't think of too many other examples of outdoor heating being viable, but in my shed, some radiant heat is nice when trying to do fine work with aging hands.
I often use a fan heater though.

You can also get heated clothes, which will be much more effective at 'heating the person'.

You can also buy Benny hats with LED lighting in them which is a very useful thing to have in the general toolbox so long as neighbours can't see you. biggrin
