Amtico in bathroom over ply?
Discussion
I'm trying to place some click down LVT which has come apart in a small ensuite shower room. I've got plenty of Amtico Spacia parquet size tiles left over, and some water based glue also from a repair of a previous job, plenty enough to do this.
It's on chipboard and I'm aware of the need for flooring grade ply to go down first. What I can't figure out is if the floor will get wrecked by the inevitable pools of water from getting out of the shower which could seep through the joins in the amtico. We have a 5 year old so "just clean it up" is a bit of a pipe dream - we barely get the chance to shower!
I know there are some flooring folks on here - I'd appreciate their advice if I'm on a hiding to nothing here (and therefore to do something else!) or if this will be fine, or if I need to take any special precautions, products, or some kind of tanking which can be done prior!

Get some marine ply and it should be fine. It’s more the water based glue you should be concerned with. Can’t think of anything off the top of my head that’s waterproof and suitable for lvt but I’ll find out tomorrow.
A bath mat to soak up the worst of it will help too
Thanks I was wondering if a non water based glue could essentially tank it…A bath mat to soak up the worst of it will help too
I fitted Amtico over P5 chipboard in my bathroom - I had no issues in the 5 years I was there with 4 kids
I sealed it first with SBR then used the Pressure Sensitive adhesive
I did use 6mm ply to overboard the bathroom in my current house as belt and braces - 10 yrs no issues, no need for marine ply IME

Thanks - I guess decent ply. Hadn’t thought to doSBR. I’m picking up that it’s likely the right adhesive which if solvent base is essentially waterproof so sounds like I need to get a small tub of something different from the water based…I sealed it first with SBR then used the Pressure Sensitive adhesive
