I’ve seen some great tap/plumbing knowledge on here recently so thought I’d see what help I might find for my issue.

We have a leaking mixer tap in the utility room. Seems to leak from using the hot water side. For a long time I just thought it was us being messy around the sink but it definitely drips whilst in use (area circled in photo).

I’m guessing it’s going to involve removing the tap which I have no idea how to do. It seems even if I did it would be awkward due to the windowsill behind and the sink blocking the underneath of the tap.

Have you checked\felt round the back or underneath to see if there any grub screws holding the levers on? If they could come off you could possibly then unscrew the cover?

Usually there is a grub screw holding the handle on (splined shaft). Then you grip the chrome collar and turn off (always normal thread). You may need to use pliers and something to protect the finish.

As above - Grub screw to get in, and once you are in, you then want to replace the tap "cartridge".

It helps if you know the make of the tap (whcih from the pic is a Blanco), but you can remove the current leaky cartridge and measure it to find the suitable replacement if none of them look right.

Thanks for the help.

Have now googled ‘grub screw’ which means I now know what I found on the floor a few weeks back. No idea if it’s from this tap though.

There is a screw or something at the back of the central part of the tap. Will look around it more when I’m home tomorrow. What tool do I need to unscrew a grub screw that’s potentially in an awkward place?

Sorry if this is silly question but I assume I need to turn the water before attempting to take the tap apart?

Hex/Allen key to undo the grub screw

Yes, turn water off, if you're lucky they'll be a shut off valve on the pipework under the sink (one each for HW & CW) - you'll probably need a flathead screwdriver

I’m back home and full of enthusiasm to get the tap fixed.

It’s a ’’Blanco Eye 5300 Monobloc mixer’ with these screw type holes, one under each side and one on the back.

I’ll watch a couple of videos first. Thanks for the advice all.

I thought the switch circled in the below might turn off the water but it didn’t. Unless there’s loads in the pipe work?

It will turn the water off to something. Does it run to a dishwasher or washing machine?

Try the silver valve to the left of the one with the black handle - you'll need a flat blade screwdriver.

Don't forget there will be two tap supplies under the sink, hot and cold.
Regarding the grub screws in the levers, if the screws are 4.0mm, a 2.0mm hex or allen key is usual to undo.

You can see the 'grub' screw you need in your first photo. It's under the handle.

That's the one. The other one goes to a WM or DW.
