Basically I'm not going that high on a ladder on stairs, we are talking like 25ft high if not more, how else can I paint the walls and ceiling the same colour, ( it's chip wood too btw)

I had to do the cutting in at the top of our stairs and managed to do it with a brush on a pole, worked surprisingly well.

You're never going to manage any cutting in without going up there... sounds like a job to get someone in to do if you don't fancy being that high up.

I used a fixed ladder where I had the height and a telescopic ladder for the bits where the fixed ladder was too tall. I also tied the ladder to the bannister where possible as an additional safety measure.

I bought a £2 2.5l paint bucket from Screwfix and fixed it around my neck. I may have looked odd but it gave me one free hand for the ladder, one for the paint brush and only a small volume of paint just in case of a spill,

Lastly, a headtorch was very useful for cutting in.

Edited to say I used an 1.5” cutting in brush and a 4” paint brush. Took far less time than I thought and it’s much easier to use a paint brush at height. Plus the drips / spray is minimal.

I’m assuming you can do it from the stairs reducing it a bit. As it’s all one colour cutting in with a brush trapped to the pole will work.

If the ceilings and walls are the same colour, an angled turks head brush on a pole would do the job.

25ft is very high, more than 3 floors high from the base.
A photo is needed.

I made a platform that rests on the top landing and juts out over the stairs and is supported by some decent bits of timber. The platform is secured to the spindles on the landing and is as solid as a rock. I can then just use a stepladder to get to the high spots.

I have. They turn up in a couple of weeks. I hate heights and don't have the equipment to get up to a 2.5x height internal gable, so it's worth the spend.

25ft is very high indeed, but we don't need a photo.

That's what I've been using today. An extendable pole for rollers (£12 from B&M) which has been a really good buy. We are lucky in that we have a half landing, but still have high ceilings over the stairs.

I have also in the past used the brush taped to a pole trick for cutting in. May do the same this time, or leave it to OH who is better on ladders. Unfortunately all his ladders are being used to repair the roof at the moment, so I may be waiting some time!

Strap it to a roller pole to cut it.
