Hello folks

I've always fancied a home sauna / steam room setup however have baulked at the cost of them, however i see these new fangled Sauna Tents being advertised

Link here - https://nurecover.com/products/nurecover-tropic-ho...

I have a outdoor gym / hot tub shed that i could fit something in or even a build something internally there

Does anyone have any experience of them ? Hints & tips gratefully appreciated

Can you do spray tanning inside it when it's too hot in the summer LOL.

I'd never want a sauna unless it had the wood smell.

Might be alright as a steam option and something I thought might be good if I ever get a cold. Can imagine they are knackered after a while though due to mould?

Part of what makes a sauna nice is the whole experience of the stove, the wood, the smells, the naked women, the pool/shower afterwards etc. Sitting in that, alone, sweating would be gross. Just my opinion though.

You have naked women in your sauna? Mine always seems to chock full of fat, hairy men. Want my money back.

Haven't been in a sauna for years, but then the other week I was in a place that had a sauna and a steam room. I recall the sauna being a dry heat, and the steam room being a 'soaking wet' heat.

Austria is full of nice saunas and it’s naked only. Wearing swimming trunks or a bikini is equivalent to blasphemy for an Austrian. There is an entire sauna etiquette to follow which is actually great. You get the odd minger in the cheap ones but if you go to nice hotels or spas then there’s always a crop of nice women on show (including my wife).

I have a home sauna. It was here when we bought the property. Its a proper internal wooden jobbie, with space for 3 to sit comfortably. I use the Huum heating system because of the remote start functionality via wifi (the sauna is in the pool house which is not part of the house, so waiting for it to heat up is a pita otherwise). No experience of the tent saunas. I find it a great place to go and sit and de-stress for 30-40 minutes as nobody else in the family is interested in using it. And its good for your health. I reckon you could build your own with timber and insulation without too much trouble if you are good with DIY. Have you had a look at this site: https://www.oceanic-saunas.co.uk/sauna/sauna-diy-k...

I had an outdoor barrel sauna at my last house for about 10 years. It was an electric one and I thought it was ace. Probably used it 3-4 times a week and it wasn't the white elephant I thought it might be.

When we moved a couple of years ago it wasn't practical to run all the cables for another electric one so I opted for a wood fired one in a back corner of the garden. Best decision ever. 20 mins after lighting the stove it's over 75 degrees and you can keep it ticking over at around 80/85 for hours. Obviously you need the space and a bit of privacy for it all to work in a good way but it doesn't really get any better. Advertised as "seats 4" but practically speaking best suits 2 folk comfortably lying down. Got to say, I'm a fanboy.

Thanks. Got it from a local(ish) company but I think the same product is distributed by a lot of companies. With not-a-lot of haggling it was about £5k installed.

Just realised they've used my actual install on their website. Dogs were obviously photogenic biggrin

Lovely. I like how one has resting ears at 11 and 1 and the other a more relaxed 10 and 2.

Beautiful dogs.

Haha, yes.
Slightly OT but when Jasper was a pup his ears just flopped at the side of his head and it looked like they were never going to pop up. All the other puppies in doggy training class just laughed at him. We ended up seeing a specialist and having some pointy ear-inserts made out of thin leather which were glued to the inside of his ears with cobblers glue and he had to keep them in for 3 months. He looked a bit like a Goblin for that period but when they came out he at least had 10 to 2 ears and didn't get picked on in the playground.

Gratuitous pic of Jasper, Nzo and previous electric barrel sauna to sort of get back on topic wink

I've looked at these a fair bit, as I'm renting and limited on space. I came to the conclusion IR isn't for me and I need the space + £3k to do a good job of it.
