So just moved into a new build house, plumbed washing machine in. Turned the blue tap - No whoosh of water.

Unscrewed the washing machine connector, turned tap - not even a single drop of water comes out!

The ball valve works as i can push a bit of wire down it, when tap in the vertical position.

This is it, Im thinking its either the 1 way valve (arrow pointing in direction of washing machine), or someone forgot to plumb it and its just a pipe going into the wall....

They should send someone out Monday to take a look, but wondering if its likely to be the 1 way valve?

Cheers

That's a check valve, it is there to stop back flow of water.

From the arrow on the valve the orientation is correct. Are you sure there isn't a valve further back that needs opening?

So guy from the developers came around on Monday, looked a bit confused, as everything else works.

Plumber came yesterday, and concluded the pipe coming out the wall isn't connected to anything!

So had to cut a square out of the bedroom floor above (luckily no carpets fitted yet!).

To find a lonely pipe in the floor void, yet to be Teed into the water supply!

To be fair he did a good job repairing the floor, including gluing it, and was very apologetic.

Maybe they need a checklist before the floors are fitted…
