There seems to be pro's and con's to both.

Any real world experiences and thoughts?

Metal, i'm looking at Asgard. Wooden, i've no idea. I bought my last bike shed online and while it looked good online, the quality was very poor, although granted I didn't maintain as properly as I should've done. Is there a premium quality brand I should look at?

Main things I'm looking for is longevity and decent level of security for a few grands worth of bikes...

Also not sure if i should get one large shed for bikes and some basic gardening equipment, or keep them separate. Swaying towards the latter. If I want my bikes out I don't want to be shifting lawnmowers etc.

Metal sheds are more prone to condensation but will be noisy to break into if security is a concern.

I'm struggling to see a wooden shed coming close to Asgard levels of security (without needing lots of extra work).

I bought my Asgard used, 5 years ago. No issues with it, and it gets zero maintenance.

I’ve got an Asgard shed. There is no condensation with their clever vent system. It just works. Quality is absolutely superb.

Agreed. A mate bought an Asgard and it is a fantastic bit of kit. I would very happily have one if I didn't have the garage. You'll find some going for OK money on eBay and Gumtree if you're patient.

I just built a large Biohort metal shed with a friend for his garden storage. It’s extremely well made.

This would be my solution then if security is a concern. Metal is very noisy under attack and it sounds as though the ventilation system works.

Been very happy with my Asgard shed for five years now. Much better than previous wood ones. Looks good with the occasional wash down with Turtlewax car wash. If you are a member of Cycling UK there's 10% discount too.

I believe they burn even more furiously than the wooden variety..

I've been very happy with my wooden one from Tiger sheds. 6 years old and still looks as good as new- I have re protected it twice.

Fitted a shed shackle within for my bikes, you'd have to rip the back wall of the shed out to remove. Bikes are secured to it with a D lock and then chained together.

Decent solution for sensible money

Northern hemisphere, rain 180+ days of the year, lucky if I sit out the back a dozen times a year. Each to their own but these picture perfect gardens ain't really for me, practically is key for moi.

That plus the fact there are lumps metal of all shapes and sizes all over the place - only difference is they are on 4 wheels...

Good to hear positivity about Asgards build quality and ventilation system, think i'll go for it.

Thanks all.

Good luck. Looks like they have a bit of a sale on currently. When we ordered ours, the only downside was the lead time. However, they’re made in the U.K. and was worth the wait. Make sure you have a decent impact driver to hand, they take a LOT of screws!
