Rising damp - garage conversion
Discussion
I have just started a garage renovation converting it into an office. I have just plastered the walls and insulated the room but now as its been raining I've noticed rising damp creeping into the garage.
I have a temporary barn door that isn't exactly water tight but I was hoping that at least no water would be finding itself into the garage. Does anyone know what I can do to remedy this?

Few factors could be at play here…
What appears as though it might be a half brick thick wall (from the piers), potential failed or missing rainwater goods (based on the damp bricks at ground level) and exacerbated by taking the plaster all the way down to slab level.
Other factors which I can’t see, but are possible, given the lack of information… Inadequate drainage or falls to the external paving, bridged or missing dpc etc etc.
Some wider photos and information on the works you’ve done so far might help us narrow it down.

Hi it was an existing garage and all I've done is added insulation to the walls. What appears as though it might be a half brick thick wall (from the piers), potential failed or missing rainwater goods (based on the damp bricks at ground level) and exacerbated by taking the plaster all the way down to slab level.

I've also added a view from the neighbours side
The other side for drainage
Had the same issue with my single skin garage.
Bought some tanking slurry and used it round the bottom of the inside before I boarded it.
Have had no issues since doing it, I also painted the inside before the board as I had moisture coming directly through the walls.

Thank you for these. I’m about to convert my stables and have no idea these products existed 👍Bought some tanking slurry and used it round the bottom of the inside before I boarded it.
