Does anyone here have systems of modular or extendable outdoor lighting that they put up for the festive season?

We're looking forward to the festive season with our little but growing family and want to make the outside of the house and the front garden look lovely this December, with tasteful lighting around the house and front garden and our tree.

I know it's a bit of a luxury, but with this being the home of powerfully built directors etc, wondered if there was any consensus on what systems to look at? I'm referring to systems where a single power source can be connected into several runs of fairy lights, icicle lights, cluster lights, etc.

The only system I'm really aware of is ConnectPro from Festive Lights. Seems like it fits the bill for the type of lights I'd like to get, but it aint cheap and wondering if it's really commercial grade and IP65 rated rather than just marketing. Reviews seem positive overall but more than a few comments saying lights failed within a couple of years and there was no further support despite the cost. I don't really need commercial grade, but if I'm gonna spend £300-400 on an array of exterior lights that are only up for one month a year, I want to be sure they'll last for years.

Anyone use the same or similar connectable / modular lighting systems and have any experiences or recommendations?

It’s obviously subjective, but I’d say take a look at the Govee Permanent Outdoor lights. The ‘permanent’ bit is that you just leave them there to use other lighting effects. They are probably a bit marmite!

I've got the connect pro stuff and think it's the best thing ever. It's definitely commercial grade as I now recognise it in shopping centres and car parks since I bought mine.

The only downside, if I had to moan, is that the timer gains a few seconds a day, so a few weeks later it might turn on 10 mins late. Guessing it's a power supply Hz issue. No reason you couldn't use your own timer.

Thanks for the reassurance - I'll likely get some ordered this weekend then after doing some measuring and planning of what I want to put up.

I was thinking of avoiding the ConnectPro timer (expensive for what it is), and instead using a Zigbee / Philips Hue smart switch to turn the whole lot on and off on my own schedule.
