Rented House Issue End of Tenancy
Discussion
We rented a house 18 months ago. The agent requested a professional carpet clean which I had done at a cost of £420 although the jester did not specify this.
We have dogs and no additional deposit was requested.
The house has had regular inspections. The landlord has been in the house. Nobody has ever mentioned a dog smell prior to the clean.
The agent wants the cleaners to come back to clean 2 rooms again saying there is a dog smell. At the checkout inspection no mention was made of this smell.
The carpet cleaning company hasn't responded to my messages asking then to come back.
At this stage should I just tell the agent that I shall take this to the Deposit Protection Scheme for a dispute unless he releases the deposit as we did as he asked and got these cleaners in?
A wet dog smell is not unusual after a carpet clean, but I don't know why they are saying it is in just 2 rooms.
