Occasional loud noise through water pipes when taps OPEN
Discussion
As per the title, sometimes flushing the toilet starts off a really loud buzzing vibration that even makes pipes shake when a tap is opened.
Stops when the tap or toilet valve is closed. Any tap can make it happen.
It seems to originate from the stop cock or maybe the TEV or whatever the hot / cold balance thing is called but mainly from stop cock.

We had similar.
Turned out to be the diaphragm in the flush mechanism of the toilet. By rights, you would think it should only happen when you flush the toilet, but opening other taps sets it off too.
Replaced the flush mechanism and it went away. Some flushes have replaceable diaphragms.

I had EXACTLY this problem recently. It turned out to be a Torbeck cistern fill valve. As with the OP’s situation any pulse with the water system set it off. So turning a tap on or off anywhere or the washing machine as it stopped filling or a downstairs toilet cistern as it stopped filling.
I initially fitted a Water Hammer Arrester to the washing machine fill pipe but in the end replaced the Torbeck fill valve with a Fluidmaster type.
Issue gone.
PS it did manifest itself after the local water supply folk had been laying pipes for a new housing estate nearby; I discussed with them but they say there was very little fluctuation in the supply pressure.

OP I had exactly the same issue. Flush the loo and then run any tap in the house (including garden tap) and the juddering noise sounded like all of the pipes were about to blow!
Replace the gubbins in the cistern and enjoy quiet pipes.
