I bought a suitcase type box from Makita along the power tools, that came with 5 wood drill bit, 5 metal and 5 masonry. OK but they are all now snapped or blunt!
I would like some decent ones that don’t break the bank.
Any good ideas?

Famag make great wood drill bits. I bought a set for £23 and they are amazing - such clean cuts. Fisch another good option (check Axminster tools). Recently tried Festool for the first time and they are even better, but overkill unless you are pro.

Bosch Blue multimaterial are good quality for day to day stuff.

For masonry, they are all much a muchness. I have a Bosch set and a Dewalt set - both were under a tenner and are OK. I then bought a Hilti 6mm SDS bit which I use 90% of the time for work in brick - It was £6 delivered off ebay! Fantastic drill bit. I also have a Bosch SDS set which is also pretty good - drill bits made in Germany which is nice.

For metal, I picked up a Bosch Cobalt set and it;s been a solid performer. I also have some Dormer multiipacks I picked up cheap in common sizes (10 to a pack) in both HSS and HSS-Co.

for metal i have a set of dormer drills, but also have a bench grinder and know how to sharpen them, my 6 mm one is about an inch shorter than it was, however the set is 30 years old.
For masonry i use bosh ones with the blue tips, seem to work well.

As said, Hilti for masonry if you have SDS. Or Spit used to be really good.

I think 'wood bits' - the type with the little spike - are rubbish. If you can't stretch to Dormer, the gold Bosch drill bits are good and will drill wood, metal and plastic. Then just add some masonry bits.
