Rain dripping in from bathroom extractor vent
Discussion
At least I think it’s rain, and not condensation…
Whenever it rains, water drips from my bathroom extractor vent.
In the loft the (insulated) ducting comes from the fan up to the roof where there is a vent tile. I can feel the insulation in the ducting is wet. There is no water elsewhere.
At the roof tile, there is moisture around where the ducting meets the plastic pipe that goes through the tile, but not dripping from there as it’s all going into the ducting.
I’ve had a roofer out who had looked with a drone (the house is 3 full floors) who can see no issues.
His solution is to get scaffolding up to examine it properly and fix whatever is needed. This is somewhat expensive as you can imagine.
By coincidence the water drips straight into the sink so no damage is being caused but it’s not ideal!
Has anyone any ideas about what the problem may be? I haven’t disconnected the ducting from the roof tile as I don’t want to make it worse and cause it to then leak onto my bedroom ceiling! I’m not sure how it’s all supposed to be fitted together.
The roof tile is a proper moulded tile with a hood that goes over the vent hole
