daughters bedroom has chimney we are not using what is best for capping it?

Whatever you pick, make sure airflow to the chimney is preserved to reduce risk of damp.

We put a 'chimney sheep' up the chimney from in the room and had a plastic cap fitted over the pot. The one we fitted was just a plain cap but had room to breathe underneath rather than having a mesh on top. We have one like that over a working chimney. Both the cap and sheep will allow it to breathe a little but no draughts. Did this to 3 open fires in our house a few years ago

I have used quite a few of these and they are great. Look a lot better than the metal ones with a huge jubilee clip around it. Allows for a small amount of ventilation and keeps the insects out. Fitted in seconds. Two sizes I think and two colours, buff or terracotta.

That's pretty much what ours are. In terracotta. It certainly stopped the starlings and pigeons coming into the bedrooms
