Anyone know which power companies allow payment monthly based on meter reading.

Sick to death of arguing about DD payments, always too much, I am not a moneylender.

If I have a smart meter I want to pay every month based on the readings from smart meter.

Estimated bills are not acceptable, must be based on meter or if the meter is faulty! On a reading supplied by me.

I do not care if bill is £30 or £300 I will just pay it

Surely that's an option with comparison sites?

Take a look at Octopus.

They give you control of your DD payments.

I do this with EDF currently.
Based on Smart Meter in my case.
Naff all in Summer, £300 in December!
I prefer to pay for what I use.

No ideas for a name

Our Octopus account bills us by direct debit, monthly in arrears for the full amount.

I'm on monthly variable direct debits based on usage with Octopus.

It took some explaining and finally getting them to do this as they were initially insistent on me building a credit for winter by attempting to take roughly double what I actually use.

I just kept cancelling their increases until they eventually responded properly to my emails requesting variable DD.

OVO.

I pay based on the meter reading - no DD or anything else.

I'm with EDF - I enter both gas and electric meter readings on their website monthly, then pay what's due by credit card. No direct debits and the small added advantage of 45 to 60 days of free credit.

I have a (low use) business tarrif with EDF and it was working via a smart meter and paying each month what was used, however earlier this year, according to the on line invoices there was a 'change of supply' on 29 June (not instigated by me) and since then the smart meter readings have not been used and estimated meter readings have been used (over estimated of course). I'm still awaiting a call back from EDF so I can discusss this with them to find out what is going on. curse

When I asked EDF they told me it was not an option (not sure why) so I pay a fixed amount per month £75 and I am currently £490 in credit.

My current 3yr fixed tariff ends in 24 days so I need to make the decision to switch or stay with them
