Mattress recommendation
Discussion
I'm in the market for a new mattress. Have a slight lower back niggle so nothing too soft.
I did try a couple today in a quite pricey establishment close to me and I found a Hypnos & Sleepeezee which were nice, but pricey. Looked on Google while I was there as this place did not do the Sleepeezee 60 day exchange. Maybe that's only buying direct from them. I did see another brand on an article called Happybeds, promoting the Signature 2000 mattress for less than half the price of the above two and I wondered how many other brands are worth a look.
I don't want Simba or Emma as I've heard bad reviews. Does anyone have any other recs based on experience?
Thanks in advance.

Theres no better way than buy in person.
Go put your bum on beds.
Until you understand what you find comfy for you then you wont be able to buy. If you then buy online so be it but you need to test the mattress yourself.
Its a purchase you will make once every 10+ years so a weekend of going to Dreams etc is not that hard.

A few years back I replaced the mattress with a new one, the label was gone from the existing one so I made what I thought was the right choice based on the trying a few in the shop and got it wrong so look for the exchange policy and conditions that apply where you buy.
If the existing one is comfortable it is a good guide so be a little wary if the replacement is very different.
I bought mine from Dreams and went through the exchange process, it wasn't cheap but sleep much better now.

I'm currently using an IKEA foam mattress, after a recommendation here. Can't remember the name but it's very comfortable so far and cost relatively buttons, so if it only lasts a few years I'll be happy.
We like the Hovag. Both my adult kids have one, and we're getting one to replace a memory foam mattress that's past its prime.

I’d pay extra money and get the one that you feel comfortable on. Absolutely no point suffering with back ache and niggles, or spending the same amount over the years because an el cheapo mattress wore out faster and you needed to buy 3 of them.
I noticed there is a massive elevation in quality around the £1k mark, would not expect to pay less, unless it’s a genuine sale, like at John Lewis.
Speaking of which, another dimension are chemical nasties. Beds need to conform to flammability standards. Artificial materials based on oil such as polyester and foam are very flammable. I brought one of my little terrors a foam Eve mattress, OMG, it reeked to high heaven of flame retardants, made my little terrors come out in a rash, I had to send it back.
I replaced it with a John Lewis Natural Collection mattress (Made by Harrison Spinks) which uses wool and other natural materials that meet flammability requirements without the need for carcinogenic flame retardants. As mentioned above, these are on sale right now. Perhaps look into those?
