What’s happening in your garden today?
Discussion
Given the warmer weather I’m finding myself in the garden more and noticing some lovely things growing and some cute visitors!
So for fellow garden lovers - what’s happing in your garden today?
Pleased to see that our wildflowers are starting to grow where we seeded. Might have to wait a while before we see any real colour though as they look like weeds at the moment!

Nice thread idea. I've become more interested in my garden and nature in recent years. I've something like those pink ones in your second image, it amazes me how they open and close each day
I'm so bad at remembering all the names of things but the identification apps are so good.
I took a video last night of the bats as I was sitting and glancing out at dusk. Just brilliant.

Spring is here and Trees are doing their thing.
The Horse Chestnut in bloom

The Blue Spruce cones forming (every two years)

The Yew Tree looking good

Finally the Dicksonia Antartica Tree Fern has decided to put on it's fronds

Well timely with this thread some rats arrived today :O so a trap has gone out. A few flower snaps and my cordyline keeps being eaten I think it's a spider as it had a nest in it last year.

This house has quite a few rose bushes from way back they're all soaked in black spot and I can't ever seem to get shot of it so they might be for the chop this year.

Slightly off topic but the hedgerows are full of white at the moment between the Cow parsley and the Hawthorn. Really nice smell too!
In my garden I can see the first signs of Lilies, Dahlias and my Sunflowers are getting bigger (Red Velvet variety- amazing!). The Sweetpeas are getting to the point that they will soon need tied off and supported.
Some of my Gladioli are up 1ft which is the quickest I think I've ever seen them grow.
Lupins are showing the first spikes forming.
Strawberries are in full flower, looking forward to eating the fruit!
Its a great time of the year but really tests your patience if most of your planting is for summer..

Can spiders damage plants? I've never heard of that happening before. This house has quite a few rose bushes from way back they're all soaked in black spot and I can't ever seem to get shot of it so they might be for the chop this year.

I don't know much about that but with that plant definitely yes. It was really suffering last year, I had a poke around and all these evils spiders came running out on me. A google search and it's a thing in the cordyline at least! Got some special stuff and they went packing but it still appears to be being picked on. I had a look back but I don't recall what species they were, they are one that imitate a dangerous species iirc Edited by White-Noise on Thursday 16th May 18:05

It’s a pretty plant/shrub but it stinks like cat pee and I’ll be sweeting petals up till autumn.

They are great, yours looks ace. mine doesn’t smell like wee though (maybe your car, not the plant?). (I think the smell could depend on variety/species actually, as there are several). It’s a pretty plant/shrub but it stinks like cat pee and I’ll be sweeting petals up till autumn.
