Sounds like your family’s problem not yours.

I think you need to tell them to MTFU or maybe get up a bit earlier themselves and so something productive ?
Presumably it means you will need to move the car outside and some distance away and / or build another detached garage. Its a bit council having the garage attached to the house TBH

There are acoustic absorbing materials that you could consider fitting. Either rubber based / acoustic plasterboard / foam based / extra insulation etc.

But my guess is that none of these will fix it well enough to actually fix the issue though as a car starting up and pulling away is quite a unique noise.

Also - these materials seem to be good at absorbing higher frequency stuff, but the lower frequency rumble will be transmitted through the solid materials themselves and you may find you spend ages trying to improve it without making much of a difference at the frequency that matters...

The only engine I've had to soundproof is the 40hp diesel in my boat. I rang a boat manufacturer and they sent me some black self-adhesive eggbox-style foam. It works extremely well. But at £55/m2 you might want to shop around as lining a garage would need quite a lot!

Sound-proofing is a bit of a black art it seems.

One of them has to go, and in fairness servicing on the 911 will be cheaper in the long run, and the right decision in the shorter term. HTH.

Sorry you can't say that anymore - it's LGBT+MorWTFU, or to be fully compliant LGBTQQIAAP2SWorMTFU

It's even more council having a water-cooled 911. Ugh.

Worst 'can afford a 911, but not a detached triple-bay oak garage' thread.

Push it out of the garage before starting it? Preferably away from any neighbours too.

Is the car reversed in ?

Raise the flooring at the far end so the car can roll back onto the drive way.

Could you build an acoustic ceiling in the garage and build noise cancellation into that?

You could try the "box within a box" approach to sound proofing - depends how much you want to spend of course, and how much room you have to play with.

Could try fitting some DB Killers used for trackdays or a remap that deletes the cold start function or just push it to the roadside first if it's feasible.

There's only one 911 owner in your household for a reason: the rest of your family are lazy. Give that Porker a good blip and remind them to be grateful for the wake up call. biggrin

Wear ear plugs yourself so that you can offer a plausibly denial of the noise levels whilst maintaining a straight face.
