Hi all,

Lantern style roof lights or sloping roof with velum style (but probably a bit nicer) for in a kitchen extension at rear of property?

Is this just personal taste or is one generally seen as better than the other?

Anything we should be aware of with either design?

Anyone on here have one or the other?

Either based on taste. I would say the general view is that everyone has done lanterns so now people are starting to do sloping roof lights. I'm sure in a couple of years everyone will get fed up of sloping roof lights as well.

I went with flush South-facing Velux windows to fit between the feature oak rafters and keep the external roof profile low:
