Talk me out of a £170 toaster...

Am I fking mad? Will a £170 toast bring completion to my life? Is it worth the money? I like the fact that they are made in the UK and are apparently repairable.... *gasps*

I saw the Dualit as more of a "Hilti" rather than Festool..... unless I am mistaken

Very good toaster, and yes they are repairable.

I've got this one. Had it for about ten years now. It's more than just an appliance. It's an attractive piece of British design.

Worth getting a couple of sandwich cages too.

We've had our Dualit toaster 25+ Years now. Still looks like new. We've replaced the elements a couple of times, but that's all. It's amusing watching someone who's never had to operate a toaster like this. The simplicity of it confuses them.

Do these need you to watch the toast, I've seen them and they seem to be completely manual.

Now glass toasters are cool.

I find two minutes on the timer about right, you can pop it up for a looksee at any point with the knob at the bottom.

Had mine for over 15 years. Sister in law made a big deal about price but has been through three toasters since and spent more.

I started a thread on here about eight years ago saying I had fulfilled one of my lifetime ambitions buying a cream coloured £150.00 Dualit 4 slice toaster.

It lasted about two years of very light use before the clockwork timer spring failed, a common weakness on these.....Google it.

I could have bought a new timer for around £25, but didn't bother and scrapped it.

It's £30 replacement is still going strong.

I too have a 4 slice classic. Think it's now at least 16 years old (not trying to trump you, btw). It was nearly £150 but was a present. It's never let me down in daily use all that time. Well worth the money.
