How to make a female thread bigger ? (pics)

As per title, I got a battery grip off ebay pretty cheap but the bugger has a female thread that is bigger than standard camera threads so it it useless on a tripod. I got a refund off the seller and now have the grip kicking about and wondered if their was a way I could fix it ?

How it goes into the camera, the male on the battery grip is fine and fits the female on the camera as does the male on the tripod
Under the grip in the same place as it would be on the camera is another female, this one doesn't fit on the tripod male thread, it is too bigg, it just catches and stay in but wouldn;t take any weight at all.
The two female threads look the same

Is it possible without gluing the male thread from the tripod into the battery grip ?

My gorillapod came with a little threaded cap thing designed to allow it to be used with full sized and compact cameras. Male thread on the outside and female thread on the inside, allowing you to screw it over the male thread on the gorillapod to make it big enough to fil a DSLR body.
If the difference between grip female and tripod male isn't too small, that might work?

Good idea Kermit, problem is the female hole is larger that a standard dslr thread, so the adapter would fall out of the battery grip, unless dslr's have smaller holes than compact camera ( which I can;t see happening really )If the difference between grip female and tripod male isn't too small, that might work?

If you had an assortment of bolts you could try in the grip to figure out what actual size the thread was, that would be useful. I can't imagine they've built the grip with a completely random size?

It caught reasonably well when put it in the first time but when tightened it just popped round. I think it is just mis engineered. I will try different sized bolt first and go form there.
