Bought the cheapest Karcher I could about 24 years ago. Looks a bit like this.

Still works just fine.
I had a very similar 411A bought in the late 90s, treated it like crap (although never let it freeze) and it still lasted over 20 years. Tough as nails.

Hi guys. For £250 budget what would you get?

I can get a petrol one which seems to blow the electric ones away for power, flow etc but is it going to break down after 5 minutes?

I guess it’s going to be louder too, but then I know the electric ones ain’t quite.

For £250 what would you buy?

You can get the easy P50 large bundle for that price if you shop around.

I bought the Easy P50 last month. It’s excellent. From B&Q medium bundle is £189

The cheapy petrol ones are fine. They do eventually break, but you'll get many years of service before that happens.

My Karcher K399 died after 15 years when it fell off a step and cracked some plastic internals. Repairable, but given the age and cost I couldn't be arsed.

Replaced with a low-end nilfisk, which seems to have similar performance but is basically a joy to use by comparison. MUCH lighter, pressure hose untwists easily, etc. Makes me wonder why I persevered with the Karcher for so long.

I bought and sent back a "base" Nilfisk Titan a few weeks ago. The hose was horrible. AVA much much better

My trusty old Kärcher died at the weekend, and it's replacement is going to be an AVA, the Easy P50 seems like all the machine I need and very reasonable priced at £190 at B&Q, doesn't come will loads of accessories but being Kärcher fitment I don't them. rotate

Can you go into more detail as to what spec your old Nilfisk was, and in what way the Easy P50 is better?

It was exactly same spec as Nilfisk Titan 120

The Ava is better as follows

Longer hose so don’t need to move machine around
Hose better quality less prone to kinking
Hose winds up on reel without needing to be disconnected
Lance nozzles and gun much better quality in fact over all it feels better quality right down to the on off switch
Stubby gun
Longer warranty
Quieter
Does a better job on the patio
More stable
Variable length lance
Better cable management

I never posted, but I bought the AVA P50 off the back of this thread and others about a month back when my Nilfisk finally gave up.

As per poster above, its superb. Very, very happy. Absolute bargain for the deal at B&Q too, I was impressed.

I was a supporter of Nilfisk mine died after 15 years but I do think Ava has raised the bar for domestic pressure washers.
