Err, how did that get past planning, it's totally out of character with the remaining semi, to the right.
It's bloody ugly and either St Albans is ridiculously expensive or it is vastly overpriced ( just my opinion of course)
St Albans is indeed ridiculously expensive, but it is also overpriced.

These have been going up for the last 3 years round here - the left warehouse is attached to the Victorian/edwardian house next door, bizarrely. https://rah.co.uk/property/trumpington-road-cambri...

In a similar vein, and a very similar area, I give you £4m asking price for this "executive home" on a pretty busy road out of town:

For £4m, wouldn't you put a tree or bush or two in? The garden looks like the public area between 1980s blocks of flats.

“Folly” hehe
indeed that was my thought - a more appropriate name for a road it's hard to imagine

I'm really not sure which is worse this or the others in St Albans. Probably this at more than 4 times the price. Who the fook pays 4 million for this.

Ah good skills, I thought it might be but when I skimmed the advert I didn’t see it mentioned or even a warranty.

If that was the garden I ended up with after paying £825k, I’d be pretty pissed off.

It's St Albans so one's mother will have purchased it for you. The space at the back is just where you dump anything that lasts longer than the Klarna payment period (aka the best before date) for the less fortunate cousin to collect after their 22hr Uber shift at 5am when the neighbours won't see him. The kitchen is the primary wealth display zone where you position the photos of yourself with someone others are supposed to recognise and the gold plated objects, with the front room designed to take the widest possible TV along the long wall and for the longest possible sofa to be preferably less than 3 feet away from it on the opposing wall. In the evening, this TV will illuminate the display area to the front of the properties like a disco ball. This tarmac display area is where you will place the white Mercedes and or the base level diesel Range Rover Sport. When the parents turn up in their Carina you will ask them to park outside the neighbours a little bit down the road so it looks like it's theirs not yours.

I don't quite understand that property. All the rooms are too small, even the driveway is too small so the garage has been built in front of the house and the garden is too small and barren, plus there are neighbours. Plus, the reason people go to Harpenden is because they can't afford school fees but can get a mortgage and the state schools are really good. If you have £4m then you can afford school fees, a proper sized home and able to go to Bucks or Berks. biggrin

Jesus. The bathrooms are not even decent. Round here that would be £300k.
I appreciate "south tax" but ffs. Also I have *never* seen new builds attached to an old semi.

I actually rather like those. Although the lack of movement joints disturbs me.

Felt I had to post this here - it's Lincolnshire (so all bets are off) but it does offer a lot of space around some eclectic features...

This baronial hall is on the first floor;

I mean, it has arrow slits and warm air heating, plus a pool and a bar. Wowsers.

A rental one would assume? No incentive for the tenant to tidy their wfh office.
True, but my eldest at uni in a private shared house with four other lads live in better order than that pit.

Some single bloke who’s wfh, fair enough he’s a just another useless fukwit slob.
But whenever I see kids stuff in houses like that I feel really sad for them.

Woah. Picturing 1970s Kev McCloud lubricating himself at the bar area before slipping into the pool for action with the wife (possibly husband too. That kind of place)

Crikey, disappointing lack of pampas grass. Beige suite rather than avocado is also a let down. hehe

The house I grew up in had the carpet in photo 5, but in green/teal. Exact same pattern though.

That whole house is astounding.
