Hi John,
I notice you have a glass splash back... How did they cut the glass to fit the switches ?
I'm looking at a maple wood worktop too. Want to have black gloss doors and possibily a red splash back. Colours not to everyones taste but I think it will work.
Cheers

For the splashbacks I used ALM Glass in Lawford, Essex (01206 398003 and ask for Alan) - they're a trade place mentioned to me by a 'boutique' kitchen showroom who realised I wasn't going to spend £9K on a few chipboard boxes!
The glass is cut to a template which included holes for the sockets. They can template it if you like, or you can save some money and make templates yourself (eg thin MDF) - but then if the glass doesn't fit it's your responsibility! I'm not sure if they use laser, water or sand for the cutting but it's very good, and the edges can be polished if you wish. The only thing they can't do is an internal right angle; it needs a small radius for strength. The colour comes from the rear which is sprayed to any colour you like - so you don't have to make the wall perfect

My worktop came from www.withknobson.co.uk - I see they do maple (mine is cherry) and plenty of others as well. Free delivery and the finish was sufficiently good that it didn't need a great deal of sanding. For the finish I used satin Polyx Oil - it's a synthetic sealant in a range of colours/finishes.
HTH!
