I assume a lot of the satisfaction comes from watching all the accumulated crap swirl up and fill a transparent cylinder! With the bagged variety you have no idea what's happening in there.
Also, in the bags does it all just get compacted down somehow if it's meant to last a month or two? I filled up 2 x 0.85l in the Shark in just one go.

It gets compacted. Our Miele bag is almost rock solid by the time it needs replacing.

Ordered a Miele Compact C2 Flex Petrol from the Outlet for a bargain £135.85 . . . a nice saving over the Miele in my opening post.

Happy Days biggrin
Well chuffed with it - & only needed to use it on the lowest 2 or 3 suction settings. Kind of wish I had bought one that stores the attachments, but for the price paid it's excellent!

Sadly their quite cheap and cost-cut now. Still a very good cleaner, but the switch assembly gives trouble (it breaks internally, has ever since that design started years and years ago) and those 620w motors don't like being run hot.

If you can find a local one/one with postage these late 1990's/early 2000's S300i's are brilliant. Fantastic build quality, the plastic on the tools is the type that doesn't wear out over time, the motors are bulletproof, made of actual_metal and rarely go wrong unless abused. And they still take the current modern bags and filters and tools, so you can get a parquet twist or the current turbo brush they do. If you have pets and carpet you'll need it.

They even come in actual colours, here's a yellow one

They did a fancy electronic powerhead version too (although this is a crap example of it). The better Revolution to get as well, the S5x verison after this has major connection issues with their hoses and are an awful machine to use because of it. This era, reliable as anything*!

Hi Mr Beko, do you have an opinion on the best battery cordless cleaner? I was looking at the Miele ones until I realised that the dust container only has a capacity of 0.3l which is less than my tea mug.

Our cleaner asked us to get a Henry.

I use a (different) Henry for house renovations. It bounces around my van until I fill it with brick dust and lumps of whatever.

Every school/hotel/business cleaning company uses Henrys.

Henrys cannot die. All parts are available from the manufacturer to consumers in the event of a problem that won't happen.

You get the idea. I know you got the Miele, but when you kill it with plaster dust, saw dust or whatever after a bit of DIY, get a Henry. smile

CX1 for 134.50?

I have an older wired Miele cleaner and it is a great bit of kit.
Considerably better than the Dyson I had and the cordless Shark that the Mrs thinks is more convinient as it is 'cordless'
Yeah - every now & again I keep an eye on that Outlet/Refurbished document - changes quickly though! smile
Seems available now , so you could get a bargain ...

I hope they've modded the cord return button by now - the merest tap means the cord retracts, which is incredibly frustrating especially as the hose connector, now fixed rather than swivelling, means you will tap it - often!
So far have yet to activate it accidentally, I agree, & if you ask me it's a monumentally daft design decision, these things retract at some velocity & could quite easily snag on furniture, hit your ankle, cause the cat to jump 3 feet in to the air. What's wrong with tap to retract, & release to stop!?

Hi! I do have an opinion of them, it isn't great...

If you use them correctly (zero fine dust, no DIY, spend an hour every month with it to service it and don't have it as your only vacuum) their all quite good. Wether a £700 v15 is worth it over a nice £170 refurbished V10 is a tough call since their mostly the same machine. Shark do some nice form factors but you'll be cleaning the filters out alot. Hoover recently came out with some new cordless vacs too but their TTI so whilst I imagine they will be very good, you'd want to be keeping the box and reciept ready for the inevitable...

I got given a Greenote GSC50 by Greenote a few months ago for review and I quite like it. It won't set the world on fire, but on my mostly laminate flooring it's really good, easy to empty and easy to strip the whole thing apart and wash it. If you have carpet though it might not be as good.

I've used a v8 for a few months too and it was nice, although I find them a tad short, and the tool connector always wears down and the joint goes really wobbly (they still do). I had a V11 from new too and it was very nice, bar the 3 warranty jobs it had and the twice afterwards I repaired it!

Staying away from DIY or talc and properly washing filters is the key. Just this last week I;ve had/have 3 V10's, 2 v6's and a shark corded and all are back to new again after new filters and stripping and washing everything to remove the fine dust. And don't just swill the filters around under the tap and dry. Dyson filters need a good soak in hot water and bio liquid. Then a trip through the washing machine and a good dry to even start to be clean. Or just buy a new set every year, the pattern cheapo sets are as good as the originals and under a tenner delivered.

Has anyone tried the Henry Quick? I'm happy with my 20 year old mains powered Henry but my other half keeps buying Cordless crap - even the Dyson was probably best considered as near disposable despite the cost.

Thank you for that; I have a corded Sebo & Miele so this would be for quick spot clean ups & the car so that Greenote looks very interesting - it's on offer for £80 at the moment. Of course scope creep has me looking at the newer GSC60 for £126 including all the tools.

Yep I have one of those! Currently boxed away...

The bags are really good. They hold alot, the airflow doesn't really diminish and it means you can use the machine for fine powdery dirt (I've tested it on plaster dust and it did fine!). Had it out for a few months and the battery life is good, it's quite nice to hold and as above, the bags.

What isn't great is the power setting. The default mode it turns on with is too weak IMO. So you stick it in Max (which isn't too easy one handed) which is then so powerful it clamps the floorhead down. And rinses through the battery.

I hacked a Dyson v11 head to fit mine and it VASTLY improved it! The head numatic chose to use is a carbon copy of the head Vax used with their Air stick vacs for a decade now, and it shows...
