Correct ;-)

It's a fair size, and I imagine a fair weight, of a unit though, half of which is made up of broken glass being held together by I'm not sure what.
It will have plastic film on, presumably it's an anti-scumbag measure as it makes physically getting through a smashed window still pretty hard.

I’ve rung round a couple of local firms this morning and I’m getting quotes of £130-150 for the whole job, subject to inspection. I priced up the unit itself at £70, so I think for another £60-80 I might let someone else do it.
Can’t be right, I would be £300

I’m in Lincolnshire if it makes any difference. If the unit is £70 and the swap is probably no more than an hours work for someone who knows what they are doing and already has the tools, I don’t think £60-70 for the fitting is too cheap.

Quarter moon knife is what you want. You can get a cheaper one for about £8
Purdy multitool is also ideal, and theyre handy for so many things.

Did you specify toughened glass?

Both of the companies I called asked where the window was and said I’d need toughened glass when I told them.

No brainer for the sake of a few quid, let someone else have the hassle if you are not 100% ready to DIY.
