Looking for a multi tool. I have a few makita bits and dewalt. Whats the consensus on the best multi tool maker out of both.
Makita dtm52 seems to be about £100 more than a comparable dewalt for the same body and battery.

I've had a DeWalt DCS355N for years. Heavy DIY use include ripping the pointing out of the perps on most the house with a diamond blade. Never missed a beat.

Who fits 11mm bolt heads?? It’s the least used spanner and socket I own apart from 7 and 17mm.

In fact they’re unused.
yes however I remember 11mm was a better fit than 7/16 on Ford V6 big end bolts.

That would be worth seeking out as a a 10/13.
Or 10/12.
I see it as a stubby 10mm + mini/palm 1/4" ratchet, which I didn't have.
Yes that would be great for big end bolts smile

Finally got this. Nice little thing, with attachments to take 1/4" sockets, and screwdriver bits, so more than a 10 and 11 mm spanner. And it folds.

Ok, you got me. Where can I get one please?

Doing the brakes on a Honda S2000, I felt like I used every socket from 10-19mm... Probably used an 11!

I bought one of these last week and honestly don't know how i coped without it.

The werner one is only £26 in Wickes atm too

I just use my Workmate for this. Supports up to 160kg, according to the specs. I realise that someone will tell me that I'm lucky I'm not dead.
Depends if you weigh 161kg or not......

I just picked one up from Wickes, a hop up not a workmate.

I bought myself the Makita a few months back and immediately returned it for the cheaper model. The brushless model uses stardock attachments which are much more expensive and there seems to be a more restrictive choice, at least in Screwfix. I’ve been very happy with the cheaper non brushless model, not sure how I lived without one for so long.

£30 for a gimmick and as I said no one uses 11mm. You’re better off getting a cheap socket set.

It's a funny one, 10mm handy for new cars and things, but as mentioned before 11mm is as near as dam it 7/16 which is very handy for the old cars I have.

it really is a case of depends what you work on.

BUT, £30 for that is a bit steep.
I have just got one of these kits for just over twice the price now looks like a cracking deal and it's brill for all the small jobs round the house
https://www.amazon.co.uk/Wera-Tool-Check-Ratchet-S...

But ironically this is not coming with an 11mm, but is coming with a 12mm which is the one size I don't think I have ever used (never had a Japanese car). so will be swapping the 12mm out for a 11mm to keep it metric or a 7/16.

It's a funny old world eh.

I have a Facom 1/4" socket set and one of these Teng kits, so that little thing adds a little extra.

Our French stuff has occasionally had a 12mm on the brakes, just to irritate us.

Looking at the sabrecut line up at Amazon, this is available with a permanently affixed 1/4" drive and hex drive socket... I suspect 10 and 11mm were used on this version because they are the only sizes that could be fitted into the holes in the body castings.

Stubby Flexi ratchets can be a lifesaver however!

I’m looking for a garden multi tool, I have a hedge that I probably need to trim once a year but it is about 10ft high, and a tree that needs trimming every few years.

Thinking about an easy to use garden multi tool with a decent reach that has a hedge trimmer and a saw attachment, bonus if it’s also a strimmer as can then give my current cordless strimmer to my brother.

Had a look at the titan petrol ones but don’t fancy getting a petrol one due to weight and having to faff about with carbs etc. not had much luck with small 2 stroke stuff.

Therefore looking at cordless. I have dewalt xr batteries, garden strimmer is a worx cordless one, leaf blower is worx cordless, and I have an ozito cordless pruning saw.

Any recommendations, budget wise around £150.

Another vote for this. I did a fair bit of research before buying and the DeWalt DCS355N came out top for cost to quality ratio

I’m going to nominate the humble step up ladder.

I do a lot of house maintenance but I only bought one of these around 4 years ago. I seem to now use it only nearly everything I do. I used to get by with a combination of a tall set of steps or by standing on a trusty chair, but this is so much better (and safer).
Brilliant things these. You can also get long ones like these: https://www.sandblasters.co.uk/2-x-plasterers-work... which are occasionally on offer for less than this. Having the extra length means not having to get off and move it so much, and having two even less so.

Daft (maybe not so) question. Where do I put my roller tray when using one. Are there clip-on things or summat?
