Who installed it in its original position?

Get that firm back in and pay them to move it.

Without doubt the answer here is leverage. Get some stout timbers about 8 ft long and a couple of people will have that moved in pretty short order.

Think laterally.

Lift the rock up and plant an acorn underneath it. Wait 40 years and the oak tree will have lifted it about 15 feet up in the air. Cut the tree down, aiming the fell at the raised area. Burn the tree away. Dig out the stump leaving a hole approximately the same size as the rock. Place the rock in the hole to avoid having to handball in 10 wheelbarrows of earth.

Profit.

Build a large water tight tank around the rock, which also goes onto the new level, tie a very large buoy to the rock, wait until July 5th and fill the tank with tears from np&e, then simply float it across.

Eddie Hall will move it for you so long as he can film it and put it on his YouTube channel wink

Those quoting £60/day for beam hire, that is just for the trolley that runs along the top. The frame is >£300/day, plus you need a block and tackle as well. The A-frame won't actually be able to move the rock to the position the OP wants. An expensive mistaka to maka.

Dig in front of the rock until it starts to fall in the hole, continue this until you get it in place.

Sorry op, obviously my advice regarding fire and vinegar was simply light hearted banter. I have had a closer look at the image, looks like you have what would appear to be a desirable fish shaped piece of stoneware situated in the raised area of the garden.

What you do is make this the prize for whoever can pull that piece of iron out of the rock, you could even dress the bar up as an old sword.

Obviously they wont be able to do it, but once you have 20-30 geezers trying it, you will probably be able to convince them to help you chuck that thing up and over that wall.

Other than that, have you considered setting up a home brew version of a fracking plant?

This rock, we had 4 builders, with straps around the bar, attempting to lift it and they could barely get it off the ground.

It needs to be moved from it's current position, to the bed directly above it.

So up, over the wall, and put in the bed.

Any ingenious ideas. This needs to be done by hand.

I was thinking an engine lift, but it would just tip forward.

Thanks

Not sure if already suggested, but would it be possible to use some kind of air-bag inflatable jack that you could slip under it ?

Turn rock round so metal pipe/rod is sticking out side to side parallel to wall.

Get a load of railway sleepers, men on one side of rock, rock it over (sic) and get sleeper under the up side. Rock it back and get sleeper under the other side. Rock it back and forth inserting sleepers till your sleeper bridge is level with top of wall then carefully walk rock along bridge on to wall top. Suggest getting it inland from wall lest it push wall over.

Or rotate the rock as above, and bottle jack under each side, then sleeper and repeat?

Or bottle jacks to get it high enough to get a lift table underneath.

Or hire a crane if you're close enough to the road.

Anything other than a gantry or well supported 1te hoist system your running a big risk of it dropping once lifted. That rock could be 500kg to 750kg which won't just hurt if it drops on a foot.

Get a rental gantry and make sure the base is well supported so it doesn't sink when the weight is moved.

Bodge it and someone's going to get hurt...
Agreed 100%. Been there, been to the bloke in hospital and been to the subsequent enquiry.
Yep, actually on reflection I agree. OP, you need a full Health and Safety assessment on your rock scenario, ignore the other advice, some of it has (frankly speaking) been outlandish.

Get a hard hat and a bright jacket and DO NOT move that boulder by yourself, get the authorities involved.
