So the missus and I were talking over the weekend, and we now have quite a large household income, however we are terrible at saving and taking advantage of ISA's etc.

I have a large bonus coming in at the end of this month and a nice salary increase, and I need to start taking control of my money and obviously try ad reduce my tax bill.

I dable in my own investments and have a small portfolio and im looking to invest in a few funds with small amounts in the next few months, and do all my research etc on my Bloomberg.

However I feel as if im missing a trick.

Im not even sure if I should be doing my own tax return yet, Should I?

Is it worth speaking to a local IFA or accountanct so that the missus and I can start getting some good savings together etc??

Help required.

Are you a higher rate taxpayer?
Are you sure that your salary income is being taxed correctly under PAYE?
Do you understand the tax code you have been allocated for the current tax year?
Do you have any income that is not taxed automatically at source?

An accountant could help you with the above matters.

For investment advice, you will need an IFA.

Are you a higher rate taxpayer? YES

Are you sure that your salary income is being taxed correctly under PAYE? I AM NOT SURE

Do you understand the tax code you have been allocated for the current tax year? NOT A CLUE

Do you have any income that is not taxed automatically at source? NO

I take it I might need an accountanct then.
