Looking to have a bit of a dabble with some stocks that are coming up for sale real soon, from my research I appear to be spending less than the £100k that most stock brokers want, but can anyone point me in the direction of someone who can get me some stock and not expect epic amounts of cash off me.

Quite honestly, with a figure of 100K ( assuming this is an intial investment to which you will not be adding on a regular or yearly basis,) many really high level brokers would not class you as a 'high net worth individual' and the service they provide would be too sophisticated for you ( in terms of portfolio management and the consequent fees they would charge)
As a first move, why not try googlng www. step.org
This is the website for the Society of trust and estate practitoners will give you access to all those firms in the UK ( and other countries) which offer estate planning advice and services

The comments above are made in a purely personal capacity and should not be seen as legal advice to be acted upopn

If he's looking to dabble and already knows the stock he's after, he's looking for cheap execution and custodial services, not advisory services, I would guess.

To the o/p, there are quite a few cheap web-based brokers ... or are you having difficulty finding a broker who can purchase the particular stock you're after?

I know the stock I want to buy, it isn't on the market yet, but when it does I want some snapped up, I have never done stocks before so not looking to spend loads so I don't lose loads.

I also originally posted this in the South Wales section because I wanted to find someone local

Go to 1 of the investment sites www.advfn.com or www.iii.co.uk, you'll find lots of brokers there

My only concern is that it sounds like you're hoping to get buy a stock that is about to come to the market for the fist time, so you may be looking for access to a small issue on a specialist market. Do you know which market it is going to be floated on?

If you change your mind about the local thing, a very good friend of mine is one in London (I used to be, but moved on) and with my recommendation he would happily look after you, and be able to keep watch for new issues.

I would consider anyone who is recommended I just wanted local as it is easier to go face to face with them and say this is what I want

Do you want a broker to give you advice and recommendations? Or do you want a facility to simply execute your own trade ideas?
