Best way to access cash and pay bill abroad?

Going to Switzerland in a couple of weeks on hols. Will need around £500 cash for day to day spending and to pay a bill in Euros of around £2500. With exchange rates and bank charges what is the best way to do this?Have currents accounts with Barclays,HSBC and Lloyds and Credit Cards with others.

Is it as simple as seeing which bank charges the least? Who sets the exchange rate given? The cash, I'm assuming to take out at cashpoint in one hit. The bill for 2.5k is more of a worry though.

Any help or suggestions appreciated.
