Got one of their cards as a corporate card, seems I can join their reward scheme for an annual fee of £35, but they are unable or unwilling to let me find out what the "rewards" are unless I pay the fee

Tried both their "help" online and their 24/7 phoneline, but seems the people I want to speak to, do not work 24/7

anyone got the card and can let me know what the rewards are other than bottles of wine, car hire and hotels, seems there are thousands of rewards too numerous to mention and so they did not mention much

Probably spending around £250-400 per month depending on work location and if using hotels

If you are spending that little on it, I would say its not worth the fee

I just chopped in 87,500 points (or €87,500 worth of spends on AmEx!) for a new Dyson vacuum.

That's about 3 years spending an average of €2,500/month! I don't have to pay to join the Rewards scheme, but you do have to rack up a lot of points to get anything worthwhile.

Yes its toss don't waste £35. Thier reward program is much like all the other bks on offer but they have the cheak to charge for it. IIRC if you took out a private AMEX card its the same ste but free....

I love the rewards system. I can change every point for a BA mile, so after a while, I can get business class return flights on BA whenever I need them. Best deal I've had so far was 50k miles and 450 quid for business class return to NYC. That's normally a 4/5k ticket. I couldn't give a st about getting a case of wine or a hoover though. Then it would be pointless.

oh yes, if you use the card a lot, the scheme is easily as good as any other but, as OP mentioned a max spend of £400 a month, its going to take over 10 years to accumulate 50k points / miles!

cheers for that, had suspected something like it, will continue using nectar at petrol stations and use it for argos discounts

suspect the lack of info is the reason why I have to join to get the catalogue

I too have the Amex BA card and its great.

Get 2.5 points for every 1 pound spent I think.

Managed to rack up over 40,000 miles so far. and that includes 6k worth of fraud on my card, and i managed to keep the points from the spending which was a result.

As for my corporate one, I dont bother with the rewards etc unless your travelling lots and buying air tickets which a lot of guys do here, but I dont travel.

To be honest I was looking at a weekend break to Paris with the other half and it came in at 250 for the both of us to fly economy.

Then if I wanted I could spend 18000 miles and bay 178 which I thought was utter crap, but thats another topic.

I have the Virgin black one, so you pay a fee, but get 4x as many miles (something like that) ...worth it if you fly a lot long haul

I cashed in 240K miles last year for upper class tickets x 2 to Cape town for a holiday (would have been about £6K) and I have another 150K miles left

all depends on what you are going to get out of it I guess...personally spending all my expenses on the Virgin card and taking Virgin flights when I can, pays for me most of a luxury holiday each year

Works out better on long haul than short haul because of the airport tax or whatever they are calling it today. Just got two First Class returns to San Francisco for 700 pounds and 150,000 miles plus a companion voucher. Cheers easy It's a pity you only get the companion voucher once per year though as currently spending 5-7K per month.

passport expired last year, and only used it once or twice, might get around to replacement this year or not
