I've just start a new job and they have provided me with an Opel Insignia 1.6 5dr as a hire car whilst I wait for my on order F10. It is a woeful car. They emailed me the P11 details recently and it has list price of £31,879! It appears Vauxhall don't sell a 1.6 NA Insignia in the UK, only the 1.6T Ecoboost or similiar, so I have struggle to find an actual UK list price. Being a 1.6 petrol, it's emissions are 179g/km and as a higher rate payer, has a BIK rate of £255.01 per month.

Is it possible that a car this bad/under powered/downright dangerous could be priced so high? I have queried it but they claim that this is the price the hire car company have provided.

BIK is always based on the list price - unless there isn't a list price.
