Looking for a 100% safe long term investment for circa £22k (five years or so). No need to access the principle but need the interest paid into a separate account to draw on.

Simple as that. I think.

have you used up your isa allowance for this year already?

Premium Bonds have their critics but we put £60k in for 9 months during a building project and in that time (whilst we were constantly withdrawing money to pay bills), we won £5k.

No, but it's for my dad. He's 81 and just wants somewhere safe that pays the best monthly interest.

likely its going to be difficult to even keep up with inflation if he wants monthly interest paying out

Not really representataive of the tupical return on PBs. You were VERYlucky to get 13%!!!!
