Just got a letter in the post.. Fwd from my old a address i move a month ago.
So it's a last chance arrears letter for a lot of money.
For rent on a property arrears in south end on sea.. Somewhere I have never been let alone lived!
Thing is, if it is a mistake how did they get my name?
And if they have my address why did I never get any rent reminders?
Says at the top it's an official novation :/
Hate this stuff! Wonder if it's anything to do with the Mbna loosing some of my data :/
Any suggestions how to approach?
Cheers

Could just be that you have the same name as the person who actually owes the money. If a debt recovery company has just taken this on and the debtor has moved, I think they just try loads of people with same name who've moved recently.
It happened to me about 18 months ago - they were trying to recover some money from a HiFi sales place that I'd never heard of. I just called them and said I'd never heard of the company (I think they were in Peterborough - I have actually been there, but didn't buy anything much!) and I haven't heard anything since.
Could be a scam, but might just be the debt recovery guys being lazy!

Did you report MBNA's data protection breach to the IC?

I would always advise reporting any financial institute that f**ks up where your data is concerned.
