I am Acting as power of attorney for my dad, helping him sell his current home and buy a retirement flat.

The conveyancing fees from his solicitor (who did all the power of attorney for him) is £475+vat + £200 for land registry fee plus another £100 ish for various bits and pieces.

There is a lack of hassle factor to me in using his current solicitor and I don’t mind paying a bit over the top, but is £1K taking the piss or about right?

Its about right I reckon. Especially true if he's a decent solicitor.

If the £475 is for sale AND purchase I'd say it's a good deal.

Around £350- 400 for just one of the activities is pretty common I'd say, so £475 for both looks good.
