I need a little help to locate some of my bank accounts. Over the last few years I've opened a few accounts, left money in them and simply 'forgotten' the details - in some cases I've forgotten the bank name too.

So how do I go about locating my accounts? any help would be appreciated.

can anyone vouch for how reliable that service is?
I've just received a message from them stating I don't have an account with Barclays, which is strange because it's one of the accounts that I know I have!

You would need accountsiknowihave.com to find that one...

The bank should be able to search under name and postcode so best bet is just head to each one in turn and ask. Make sure you have ID on you though.

I used http://www.mylostaccount.org.uk/ to track down an old Post Office savings account I had.

I last used it in 1991 when it had an £11 balance but could never remember closing it. I had also moved house 3 times in that period. I had to provide quite a lot of information, including estimates of known transactions on the account, but within 3 weeks of providing the info, I had a letter from the Post Office with a new payment book showing my account balance had increased to the whopping value of £94!
