Credit Card - With decent rewards?

Anyone out there using a credit card with decent rewards?

Be that either cash back / gift points / air miles or whatever.

Rates are not to much of a concern, balance would be cleared every month.

So is there anything out there thats worth the hassle anymore?

im looking at getting this as a second card and then just spending the minimum on it to get the 20000 miles to get a trip and a half to finland and then cancelling it or not using it:

I've just got a Virgin Atlantic / MBNA / American Express black card... I think I've done the maths correctly, for me. I'll find out when I try and cash in the miles I've earned next year...

Would prefer to avoid annual fees though!

The BMI one i'd easily get the flights within 90 days, so thats apossibility - but anything with longer term rewards?

I use a Hilton one at the moment, get a free stay every so often.

I've been tempted to change though, as since I've stopped travelling a lot, it's less useful and I spend far less on it. Was considering a cashback type one - so I'll watch this in anticipation of good ideas!

Amex platinum cashback might suit

* After that, spend up to £3,500 in the year and you’ll earn 0.5%, spend between £3,501 and £7,500 you'll earn 1% and over £7,501 you'll get 1.25% cashback.

You have to spend tens of thousands for the air miles ones to work, and for most of us that's unlikely!

I'm not really sure there's any point in these cards for an average person, you're better off just using Quidco (as mentioned above). However, Amex do offer the better deals, but then Amex isn't accepted in a lot of places.

Egg Money gives you 1% cashback on all sales plus they have their own cashback scheme run by Quidco so you get additional cashback that way as well. Only downside is that I think they now charge £12 a year for new customers

You can do some good combinations of stuff

For instance sign into ebay through nectar and link your paypal account to a cashback card - bunce coming your way from every angle!

Go through quidco for deals and pay with your cashback card too - double dip again!

I am looking for a new card as I have recently been on a golf holiday to Florida, came back and then went on a business trip to central America and got back to a statement that had charged me on all the transactions I made. Back to AMEX unless something better comes up...

ETA - it was the Hilton card that stitched me!

I use a Capital One credit card and have done for years. 1% cash back on all purchases. Pretty simple, plus they have just sent out £50 worth of vouchers to most customers to use on things like music downloads, shopping etc.

I get a £50 John Lewis voucher every couple of months on my John Lewis card. I also find their customer services excellent.

Egg Money & Amex Platinum Cashback. I have both. Got them when the rates were a bit better, but they are still probably the most versatile ones out there - since they pay in cash and not points/discounts/assorted rubbish I don't want.

Exactly the same. I use Amex Platinum where I can. If they don't take that, I use the Egg Money card. I then use quidco wherever I can. Also, using the Egg card gets *instore* cashback through Quidco in places like B+Q, Halfords etc. So that is a double wammy cashback.

Hurrah for cashback. I probably get a couple of hundred quid back a year. All in cash, rather than crappy vouchers etc.

Mind you don't cut off your nose to spite your face - they all charge, some do it separately, some build it into the exchange rate.

I also use a combination of Amex Platinum cashback and Egg Money. Free money is always good.
