Hi all, I've just started a new full time job alongside my existing Sunday job...

Just wondering how I ensure that I get my full tax free allowance, I.E. offset it against my new main job.

What is the process that I need to go through?

Contact HM Revenue & Customs, Tax Office for a personal Self Assessment Tax Return form, or complete the same online from their web site.

Self Assessment is probably a bit of overkill for a fairly straightforwatrd PAYE situation (although we've all seen recently how messy PAYE can get).

Contact HMRC using the telephone number on the most recent coding notice in your possession and let them know your situation. Also, you should fill in a Form P46 and give it to your new employer. This is an instruction from you to him to tell him to request that HMRC allocate your personal al;lowances to the new job.

Your new employer should be able to provuide you with a Form P46 for completion.
