So, I just had a call from a man at the above mentioned company saying that Barclaycard were in breach of their contract with me re. my credit card.

Apparently, because they have been increasing my credit limit without my permission, they are in breach of contract, and I do not have to repay the remaining balance, which is about 5-6k (low rate balance transfer)

He seemed very puzzled with my logic.

Him - Sir, we can take this case on for you and you will not have to repay any of the remaining balance
Me - But, I spent that money, surely I should repay it?
Him - Yes, but you don't have to.
Me - Morally, I do. I spent money that was loaned to me. I have to repay the loan.
Him - That's very admiral sir, but are you really wanting to turn down £6000???
Me - Yes. It isn't yours, or mine, to give.

ARGH. What a tt. Told him he was no better than these no win, no fee places.

Are these companies allowed to do this? Can I report it to anyone? To quote Mr Partridge... "scum, sub-human scum"

What, you mean he didn't lay the "give those bonus-grabbing, economy-ruining, dastardly bankers something to think about" line on you?

I'd be more concerned about how this vagabond of the financial world got your contact details.

I'm still working and too tired to think of a decent naval joke.

For some reason, asking how he got my details slipped my mind. Obviously should have been the first question.

Also, oddly, he seemed well spoken and polite, just clearly morally bankrupt. Unlike me, who is just financial so hehe

Naval joke? I dunny geddit

Sorry, trying to be clever. You said admiral instead of admirable.

Despite me reading back what I wrote last night several times to try and spot errors, I still missed that! I guess attention to detail is inversely proportional to alcohol consumed! hehe

Just to warn people these are the 10 things to look for in a scam:
