A friend did me a huge a favour just over a year ago and got me loan on her credit union account. I’ve paid it every week never missed a payment debited directly out of my bank account. Three weeks ago we got a statement to see how much was left and discovered out of the interest repayments 4euro was taken to enter a prize draw for a car. We were joking about it at the time and low and behold,
Today I found out she won the car! She’s not taking the car but the 14 and half k instead.
She did have a third of the loan amount in the bank as shares, which is how I was able to get the loan.
My query is as the money from the draw came from my repayments am I entitled to a share?
I know how this sounds self-serving and I don’t want to fall out with my friend, I am grateful for the help she gave me but I feel it’s a little unjust.
Am I wrong in thinking so?
Any advice?

To be honest if she took the risk on the loan be the good friend and let her keep the car as she helped you out of a hole.

Seems like she got rewarded for her generosity then.

This.

Expect nothing, then it would be a nice bonus if your friend decided to share with you.

She claims it came out of her existing shares she had in her account, She hasn't paid anthing into the account since. I beleive it came from the intrest and repayments from the loan. There is a recent statement but she's become hesitant to show me since I raised it today.

The list of people willing to do you a huge favour in the future just got rather short.

so a friend helps the OP out of a bad situation, the friend wins some cash and the OP starts to shriek, my share, MY SHARE !!!!

congratulate the friend on the win, don't ask for any cash, be glad that you have at least 1 friend who will help you out

You're a nasty grasping piece of work.

Your mate did you a favour, and now you want to fist her.

Revolting woman.

The favours have gone both ways I must say, But I was on the side of if she does do anything nice bonus too Just had some people giving it in my ear all day about the whole situation.

I'm going for the we've both helped each other out over the years she needed some good news.. and she has been a good mate.. she should be able to enjoy todays news and I'll leave it at that..
And thanks for the all the advice.

I would imagine you have probably already ruined it for her, by asking for the statements and raising the issue.

Thanks for your input, Grasping anything but, Nasty on occasion, since the news so called friends have been getting involved to the point she wants to go to a solicitor, (I understand you run quite a worthy practice. I'll send her a referral if need be) I however haven't asked for anything I still continue to make my weekly payments. I just wanted to cover my basis and try to get some unbiased advice
As I mentioned the huge amount of help has not been one sided. We’ve talked about it and drawn a line under it.
But thanks again.

She does know me so well... really well (people always have such good advice!), There is no solicitor needed. I'm going with her and the Family to collect her gift.
Just can't believe the influence of others sometimes. (not the PH's)
In 2 yrs never let her down nor her me.
Had a moment of stupidity.
Going to have a shower and wash the stink of greed/doubt/ok slight envy off me.
Once again

I wouldn't even consider asking for a share of the car.

She did you a massive favour and dug you out of a BIG hole. This means, regardless of whose 4 Euros it was, she gets the car.

Shake her hand and congratulate her (Which is appears you're doing)

Give yourself a bit of a slap for letting the greedy shoulder post a thread on PH wink
