Long story short, We have the mortgage in place and the house purchase is going through steadily now. Just been looking over the small print from the lender.

I'm paraphrasing but it goes something along the lines of :-

Rolling credit checks are being carried out on you until the date of handover, If we feel your situation changes significantly we can withdraw our offer. Please be careful when buying large items on credit.

So my question is how much is "large items"? We have been looking at sofas/dining tables, which have the option of 4 years interest free. We could stump up the amount (around 2-3k)but it seems daft to pass this up.

Or do they mean large purchases Ie Cars on finance?

Anyone in the know?

Cheers

It depends on what will make you fall into the 'can't afford' bracket.

If you've got the offer, but £50 less take home a month and you wouldn't have. Then I wouldn't go taking out credit for £100/month.

You know who the best person to talk to you is...call them.

you'd feel a prick if it tipped you over the point.

just wait till you get the property mate
Yeah that was my plan anyway really. You know what the OHs can be like though, especially with a 13 week delivery..So was just asking.

Cheers.

DO NOT GET ANY MORE CREDIT UNTIL THE MONEY HAS BEEN TRANSFERRED TO THE VENDOR.

If your missus insists, tell her it will be HER fault when the mortgage disappears.

PS do not buy a sofa from DFS they are rubbish.

This

And

Take the chance to do some wallpapering / splash some paint around / spring clean without your furniture being in the way!
