Best credit card with airmiles?
Discussion
I'm looking for a credit card that will give me airmiles that i can use to get transatlantic economy flights with. The BA Amex looks good, but apparently you need to be earning £30k+, and unfortunately i'm not. Are there any suitable alternatives? I'll only be putting ~£300 through it a month, so need something with a good starting bonus of miles to make it worth while The card will be paid off every month, so APR isn't really an issue, but benefits are!
Thanks

I use Virgin Amex for those reasons ...they do 2...silver and black..silver is for lighter users I guess
black has a fee, but you get 3x as many miles ...it might be worth the yearly fee if you use it a lot (I do)
...so just by using it for all my business expenses, I havnt gone transatlantic in cattle class....I always have enough points to upgrade...this year I even had enough for 2 flights to Cape Town for free on holiday

I've had a BA/Amex card since they first started. As you're based in the UK there are three levels available to you, the higher the level the greater the annual fee and the more BA miles you can earn per £ spent. You also get to the free BA companion ticket quicker at the higher levels.
For an average spend of £300 a month, it will take you ages to get sufficient BA miles for a free economy round trip ticket to the east coast USA. You'll need 40,000 air miles and this will take you 11 years at the blue, lowest, level. At least eventually you'll be getting sonmething for nothing for your monthly spend.

Yeah i had another look and noticed BA use 'BA miles' not airmiles! 10 BA miles = 1 Airmile, so it becomes a bit pointless for me really, especially when it's Amex, which is more inconvenient than Visa for most things.R.
An economy flight to NYC is 50,000 BA miles, which with their standard card means you have to spend £50k, which is a bit high for me
