I want to buy a new car. I sold my last one and bought an old banger to get around in. I've bought a few grands worth of Premium Bonds to try my luck but I've found a car I can get at a good price.

I have a pre-agreed reserve built up on my mortgage but I still need to get pay slips sent to them before its released. Will be into next week before I can get hold of the money, takes time to cash in the premium bonds also !!

Is there any way of getting hold of 14K (by the end of the week at the latest) and into my account ?

Your bank may do a personal loan online, with this they have to offer a 7 day cooling off period allowing cancellation without penalty. So you could have the money for 7 days. Alternatively, search for a loan company offering daily rate interest, but most will want to see proof of income, so I guess you're back to square one.

Could you raise the money on credit cards?

Its a possibility but still don't think I could get it into my bank account quick enough, worth an enquiry though.

Can't you just save up some money and buy a car when you actually have the money sat in your account?

It's the way I tend to do things, but perhaps I'm old fashioned.

Helpful post.

NOT
I was going to argue that, then reread the original post properly. I have nothing to add. hehe

I know it sounds like i'm impatient but I have the money - its just sitting elsewhere and I can't get to it in time !!

Loans or an overdraft should be do-able in the time frame.
May be quicker still to arrange car finance?
What car is it?

Its a VXR8, not for sale through a garage though, private sale.

14k via payday loans... 14k x 1500% interest... lol

Plus if you start applying for several loans prepare to get your credit rating dicked on.

Who do you bank with?

I'm with First Direct and have been with them sometime, once I needed 10k in a hurry so they just made my overdraft to 10k then sorted it out later, I think it took about 3hrs for the cash to be in my account.

There speaks someone who doesnt understand payday loans. Again.

You should be able to get a loan for £14k easily enough, some offer same day transfers at a fee. FFS make sure you can settle early or your £3k saving will be eaten into with charges for early settlement.

I cashed some bonds last month and the money was in my account in 3 days, so thats still an option.

I am assuming the car is being offered at 14k but you think it's worth 17k?

Ask a friend to lend you 10k which can be secured against the car and it's documents for a week. If you don't pay him back he keeps the car and sells it to recover his/her money.

Finding 4k may be easier?.

Assuming it cost between £35 and £45k new, depending on model, and is now worth less than half that - ? 3 years old, it is depreciating by £5k p.a. - £400 / month. In April they'll be £3k less, you'll have the money and some, and the weather will be nicer for enjoying RWD & 425 - 564hp, depending on model...
