Best rated mortgage lenders?

I'm currently going through the joys of getting my first home, and need to look for mortgage lenders. Are there any that are better to go with than others? and are there any to avoid? I'll only consider going with somewhere i've heard of, so no randoms please

Unless you have bad credit you probably won't end up with a "random".

Really just go with the one that meets your requirements at the lowest rate, I don't think there are any reasons to favour a brand unless it benefits you. Just make sure you understand the implications of all the fees (especially early redemption fees), rates, periods etc.

1. You will shotrly have mail.
2. Randoms....... There will be lenders you havent heard of. However the chances are they are owned by someone you have. At worst they will be independent lenders who might not be on your high street, but they all have to adhere to the rules (You'll have heard of RBS, they adhere to the rules, look at the trouble they caused)
