Just a word of warning for anyone who uses ebay/amazon/paypal. I bought something off ebay last week and have just looked at my bank statement today for the first time. The paypal payment is on there and then a few days later there is a strange transaction listed.

There is a transaction on there for £24.34 and an oversees transaction fee of £1.00. This transaction is to EPGBILL.COM.LEBOAID.COMDE 37.19XR 1.54572CD

Typed part of the above in to google and it threw up this http://www.consumercomplaints.in/complaints/epgbil... . Seems it is happening to a lot of people recently.

Just phoned the bank but fraud department is closed until 8am. Hopefully they will get me the money back or atleast prevent the s from taking anymore.

I'd stay away from ebay/paypal/amazon for a while

Could it not be the "donate £1 to charity" and you left the tick box ticked when proceeding with checkout?

Sorry for the confusion.

Basically, I bought an ipod off ebay through paypal for £34.00. The only reason I'm relating this dodgy transaction to that one is because it seems a common theme on that thread I linked.

I have had £25 taken all together, not £1. The £1 is an oversees transaction fee for the £24 transaction.

Phoned Lloyds today and they said they will send me a form to fill out and were going to leave it at that. Just as they were hanging up I said 'can't you do anything to prevent this happening again' and she basically said we can't stop an individual business charging your card. So I asked about cancelling my card and they have done.

Once the form is filled in they will try to claim the money back from the company who has taken it. However, this company doesn't even exist from the sounds of things on that website and has been traced back to a house.

You're lucky it's such a small amount......Paypal let someone withdraw $4,000 from my account without my consent even though they denied this of course.

And being on a DD, it just took the money from my bank account and then I noticed I was ever so slightly overdrawn - my bank claimed it back from them instantly but to this day Paypal (bunch of 'insert your own censored here') still believe I actually paid this random woman in America $4K for no good reason!)

But of course you have to use Paypal to use ebay - but mine is now linked to an account with no balance and no overdraft etc......
