Hi ,

I am self employed contractor working in oil and gas and under the good advice of my financial advisor i started up a pension through Aegon paying a good sum per month .

I have changed accountants recently and my new accountant is adamant that the sum that comes straight from my business account to Aegon .
They said that is should be decalred as a dividend and reported as such on my self assesment as there view is that i am just taking money from the company and it not in the company name
They asked to me to provide something with the company name on it which i have but they are still arguing that becuase it says personal pension plan on the document and my name that it should be classed as dividend
the document has the company name , statements like your employer is paying xxx per month
My IFA says this is the normal for set up of pensions for contractors and never had issues .
Is my accountants being reasonable ?
How can i make it look like the company has a pension set aside when it's only me in the company and anything i do will look like i am taking money ?
Thanks
Sean

I would have thought that's about 1 1/2 - 2 hours a month. Depends what you need doing I suppose. Wish I only paid £125/month.
