My mortgage permits 'payment holidays' subject to previous history on mortgage payments; eg overpayments, no missed payments, no arrears etc. Does anyone know whether if a 'payment holiday' were taken whether this would be recorded as a missed payment on any Credit Reference Agency database? Only ask as I have an exemplary credit history at the minute and if I were to take up this option I don't want to jeopardise this.

Thanks in advance to all you credit experts out there!

I don't believe it would show up as a negative on your credit file, although it is a very expensive way to borrow the relatively small amount of money you're after. Can't you take out a low-rate credit card and transfer the balance to a current account as though repaying an overdraft?

Remember that the interest is charged over the lifetime of the mortgage on any capital that you haven't paid off as a result of taking such a 'holiday'.

Bloody robbing bd banks.

Have you seen what credit card rates are these days!!!! Even interest free offers charge 3% transfer fee......I ask 'caus I have a 0.45% over base tracker mortgage (had it for ages before economy went t**ts up) and as I've beeen overpaying loads in the last twelve months thought this could be a cheaper way!

Agree though that the banks are a load of thieving bas*%^&ds!
