£6,400 to invest - don't want to be tied up for a year

I've given up on my bank, money supermarket and the whole of the damn internet. I have £6,400 I want to invest but I want to be able to access it within 1 year without penalty and still get a return. I won't be withdrawing until I close the account and have every intention of adding to it.

Any suggestions or recommendations would be great. The mood I'm in I might just spend it.

Rockhopper shares would have turned your £6400 to about 17777 shares at 36p last week to £41953 today at 236p as they just found oil! How crazy is that! I don't have any but wish I did now. Its supposed to maybe go upto £4-5 if more data comes out about the oil quantity and quality.
